PCH/GCA Recursive DNS Project
Packet Clearing House and Global Cyberalliance (GCA) partnered in 2016 to build a security and privacy oriented recursive resolver platform for public use. This project quickly gained support and momentum, and was joined in 2017 by IBM and a separate 501(3)c foundation was created to separate the project from the three founding organizations. This new organization, now known as Quad9, was launched in November of 2017.
The system utilizes PCH as the most significant transit network for delivery of DNS data worldwide. Quad9 continues to work with PCH closely to promote the deployment of DNS resources for the public good, to both the well-connected world as well as emerging nations which are not yet optimally served by existing infrastructure.
Quad9 promotes Internet security, privacy, and performance via public recursive resolver services available to the general public at no cost. For more details, please see https://www.quad9.net/
